Whiskey Sour
The whiskey sour is yet another classic cocktail that is a must know for any bartender. It's easy to make and is responsible for spawning an entire line of "sour" drinks. This cocktail is all about balancing the contrasting flavors of sour and sweet.
There's an endless number of simple modifications that you can make to this drink. Add soda and you've got a John Collins. Depending on the type of whiskey used, you may want to modify the flavor profile slightly as well. For example, a sweet whiskey won't require as much bar syrup, but we'll start with a basic, foolproof recipe that is sure to please.
Recipe
- 1 part Whiskey
- 1 part Freshly Squeezed Lemon Juice
- 1/2 part Bar Syrup
- 1 Egg White (Optional)
Method
Combine ingredients into a shaker and fill with ice.
Shake vigorously and pour into a rocks glass over fresh ice.
Garnish with a lemon twist.
