Lemon Drop

lemon drop martini recipe

The Lemon Drop is one of the most common vodka-based cocktails out there. This is because it's both simple and delicious! Invented by Norman Jay Hobday, owner/proprietor of Henry Africa's in San Francisco, in the early 1970's, this refreshing cocktail gained so much popularity that it even shared the spotlight with Oprah and Rachel Ray.

While there are easily 50 plus variations of this drink, none of them stray far at all from the original recipe. The Lemon Drop is commonly served in either a martini glass or as a tasty shot, however, the set up for both remains the same. The goal here is finding a balance between the sweet bar syrup and the sour of triple sec and lemon juice. Once you've got the recipe down it's very easy to tweak to anyone's personal taste by asking one question "Sour or sweet?" and mixing accordingly.

Recipe

  • 2 parts Vodka (Citron is Preferred)
  • 1/2 parts Triple Sec
  • 1 parts Bar Syrup
  • 1 parts Lemon Juice (Fresh Squeezed)

Method

Combine ingredients into a shaker and fill with ice.

Shake vigorously and strain into either a martini or shot glass rimmed with sugar.

          Garnish with a lemon wedge.
